Precision hardened and ground shafts, available from T.E.A. Transmissions , are used as a raceway for ball bushes, track rollers and plain bearings. These shafts can also be used for applications such as conveyors or finishing rollers.
T.E.A. Transmissions precision hardened and ground shafts are manufactured to high tolerances for surface finish, roundness, hardness and straightness to provide a long service life with reduced maintenance. The fine ground and polished finish enables a tolerance of h6 for steel and stainless steel or h7 for chromium plated. These shafts are induction hardened and this treatment assures the shafts have a uniform surface hardness of HrC 60 both in radial and axial direction.
The stainless steel shafts are subjected to treatments to avoid tensions and are supplied with a surface hardness of HrC 58. The minimum depth of hardness is controlled to provide the high load carrying capability of the ball bushing bearings. Precision hardened and ground shafts are available in metric and imperial sizes with lengths up to 3000mm. The various materials available from stock are quality carbon steel, stainless steel and chromium plated steel. T.E.A. Transmissions also offer a range of ball bushes or track rollers.
