SYMBOL Technologies has released the MC9000-S and MC9000-K handheld computers.
They are designed to improve asset utilisation in transportation, route accounting/direct store delivery, field service, and field sales. They can be used for mobile applications supported by indoor Wi-Fi and outdoor wide-area wireless networks.
The Symbol MC9000-S offers a compact format while the MC9000-K provides a full-sized keypad. The MC9000-S enables field service personnel to automate services, manage replacement components and inventories, and improve site visit routes and logistics. The MC9000 line helps mobile workers to improve shipping and receiving, inventory velocity and visibility, asset allocation, line replenishment, and order taking. The MC9000-S enables route drivers to manage direct store delivery, expedite pre-sales orders, reconcile inventory orders, and track product delivery and stock levels.
The MC9000-K and MC9000-S enable route drivers and shipping and receiving personnel to better manage vehicle and driver resources, track vehicles and maintenance, and improve pick-up and delivery activities. They both allow warehouse supervisors and dock personnel to better manage inventory velocity, improve yard space allocation, and obtain greater visibility in inventory return processing.
The computers have Intel XScale processors running at 400MHz. Wireless capabilities allow mobile applications across personal area Bluetooth, local area Wi-Fi (802.11b), and GSM/GPRS and/or CDMA wide area networks. Power management features and large battery capacity allow them to run for more than eight hours.
Both computers have 3.8” ¼ VGA displays and are able to withstand 6’ drops to concrete. They are IP64-rated for moisture and dust sealing. Several field-replaceable keypad options are available, enabling customers to use the same device for multiple applications with different data entry requirements.
