The Sykes Auckland team has again been able to assist Fletcher Civil with the Axis Fergusson Container Terminal Extension Project. Ports of Auckland are reclaiming 9.5 hectares of the sea, adding more container space to the huge port in New Zealand.
The project, which involves the deepening of the commercial shipping lane in the Rangitoto Channel is estimated to be a $77,000,000 development, and is necessary to handle the port’s future increases in import and export volumes.
The project has included the dredging of 500,000 m3 of silt and marine mud from around the port area, allowing larger new generation ships to enter the port.
Fletcher Civil chose the Sykes CP200 and CP150i pumps to handle the silts, marine mud and tidal flows, prior to the back filling of the reclamation.
