Swire Cold Storage has appointed Hayden Stewart to the transport team as state manager of transport for Queensland.
Hayden’s love affair with transport started at a young age, while visiting his mothers’ workplace, McPhee Transport. He liked it so much that when he was old enough he applied for a job there and began his career in the transport sector.
Hayden spent almost twenty years with McPhee Transport/TNT, beginning with a position as a dock hand helping to load and unload 40 foot containers and later on progressed through the organisation to occupy varying roles in customer service, operations management, depot management, commercial development and state management in WA and Queensland.
Throughout his career Hayden, has amassed vast experience in the management of fleets with a range of vehicle sizes as well as in linehaul and project management. But perhaps importantly he has been integral in the achievement and implementation of Workplace Safety Accreditation.
Hayden’s first challenge with his new job is to learn how Swire Cold Storage functions and get to know the people and the refrigerated transport and storage industry. He is already impressed with how friendly everyone has been at Swire Cold Storage and the wealth of experience that his 2IC’s Geoff Naylor (Operations Manager Metro - Qld) and Clayton Reed (Operations Manager Country - Qld) have between them.
In his spare time, Hayden loves to cycle and does over 300 km a week. He races every weekend and recently came second in the Hamilton Pine River Wheelers Criterium Race.
When he’s not racing, Hayden is busy being a dad to his two young daughters, Georgia (9), and Chelsea (3). He is proud to report that young Chelsea has promising calves and quad muscles and is already zooming around on her own push bike, probably taking after her dad. Hayden shares parenting duties, with his wife, Lara, who also keeps herself busy with her private mobile coffee business.
