Swire Cold Storage has been on a number of overseas study tours over the years and was delighted to host a study tour of its own for Chinese delegates from Guangdong Foodstuffs Import Export Group Corporation (GD Foodstuffs).
GD Foodstuffs are no stranger to the Swire Group and are a joint-venture partner of Swire Coca Cola Guangdong Ltd. Their visit was an opportunity to not only share information about the cold storage industry in China and Australia, but also to discuss business opportunities and collaboration.
As an enterprise group comprising of 40 subsidiaries, GD Foodstuffs, in addition to cold storage, also operates in a number of markets such as import/export, transport, manufacturing and warehousing. They are also a leading exporter of condiments, sugar, fresh and preserved fruit and China’s leading brand of export quality soy sauce, Pearl River Bridge, currently distributed to over 120 countries.
The award-winning Pearl River Bridge brand has ensured that GD Foodstuffs’ products are stocked all over the world in leading supermarkets such as Carrefour in France, Tesco in the UK, Fair Price in Singapore, Ahold in Germany and Coles in Australia.
During their study tour the GD Foodstuffs delegates were able to experience a good cross-section of Swire Cold Storage’s temperature controlled business, visiting the retail distribution centre at Lyndhurst, Victoria; the fully-automated DC at Minto, NSW; as well as a more traditional general storage facility at Lurnea, NSW.
Swire Cold Storage is looking to further its ties with Asia and in exploring new business opportunities within the region and ever growing cold storage industry.
