Sushi Machines

In April 2009, a new sushi shop opened in Carlton, Melbourne. It’s called Momo Sushi and the owner, Robin Yong, has taken sushi into a new era….unusual sushi. He started a bold step…firstly, being one of the few sushi shop that not just emphasise on good and unusual sushi but one that also serves excellent coffee. Robin, being a Coffee Barista, wants people to “not only enjoy their wonderful coffee but also have the experience of enjoying healthy sushi together with their coffee.”

Amongst the unusual sushi he has started serving is Beef Rendang Sushi…a cross between the Malaysian delights of Beef Rendang with the healthy portion of sushi. It became an instant hit…with customer coming in the next day asking “is this the place where you serve Beef Rendang Sushi…it was highly recommended to us to try”.  So, with that, Momo Sushi can claim to be the ‘birthplace of the Beef Rendang Sushi’

With this success, this will not be the end of the ‘Unusual Sushi’ saga…Robin plans to create as he goes along and learn from his customers…what do they really want to try in their sushi.  Momo engaged Sushi Machines Pty Ltd to assist in the initial set up and training which helped to ‘short cut’ their learning curve.

They purchased a Maki Robot, Nigiri Robot and a Mixer which are in-valuable to speed up work in the morning. This also allows them to take on bigger role of offering sushi on a wholesale basis. It may be coming to winter where traditionally sushi sales slows down but Robin is not deterred…since he has the capacity, he’ll go for more business where-ever they are.
