Sushi Machines Australia recently supplied two sushi machines to a couple based in Makati, Philippines operating a sushi business.
Makati is a bustling city with the Philippines Government’s economic reforms reflected in the trendy shopping malls and high rise condominiums that are mushrooming all over to meet the demand of the growing middle class living and working in this area.
Sushi is a fast-growing popular food among Filipinos acquiring a palate beyond their traditional local food. Michael and wife Julie saw the potential for sushi and decided to set up their own business.
With their limited sushi making knowledge, the couple contacted Melvin of Sushi Machine for assistance. Melvin brought them to Australia to see for themselves some of Sushi Machine’s customers based in Brisbane while also offering free sushi consultation for setting up a sushi retail business.
The couple bought the Autec ASM860 Sushi Rice Rolling Maki Robot and Autec ASM720 Sushi Rice Mixer Machine.
In May, Melvin flew to Makati to train Michael, Julie and their support team on the use of the Autec sushi machines. Prior to the trip, Melvin gave free consultation on the use of sushi ingredients in terms of selection and sourcing as well as coordinating the shipment to Philippines.
Their first weekend food market was a sell-out success with Michael and Julie very positive about the prospects for their sushi business. They are looking forward to business expansion in the retail as well as wholesale segments and plan to buy additional sushi rice rolling robots and sushi rice mixer machines.
