The Surface Coatings Association Australia (SCAA) is a not-for-profit body that aims to enhance peoples understanding of, and further develop, the surface coatings industry in Australia.

The association has over 700 national members, along with members who operate outside of Australia yet within Asia-Pacific region.

Members are involved in all aspects of the surface coatings industry, from suppliers of the raw materials required for surface coating through to specifiers, researchers and the end users of surface coatings.

The association deals with most surface coatings, including paints, lacquers, varnishes, adhesives and inks, as well as the raw and intermediate materials required to produce such surface coatings.

The association aims to educate and inform its members about the technical aspects of surface coatings in order to ensure they continuously develop their professional skills and readily adopt new surface coating techniques.

The association has successfully achieved this by forming state run sections, as this allows for the more effective management of educational resources.

These state bodies organise meetings, which provide members with the opportunity to debate and discuss issues of relevance to the surface coatings industry.

Furthermore, they organise technical seminars and workshops which are aimed at the specific educational needs of members. These generally occur on a monthly basis and often feature informative lectures which are delivered by key industry figures.

The association is a member of Coatings Societies International (CSI), an organisation comprised of surface coatings industry associations from nations including the United Kingdom, Japan, New Zealand, Scandinavia and America.

Membership with the CSI ensures the association is well informed regarding international developments in the surface coatings industry.
