Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia to host National Forklift Championships

Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia  will once again host the National Forklift Championships to recognise the importance of forklift operation and operators in the supply chain and logistics industry.

Last year’s winners, Angela Mulloy (Pacific Brands) and Trevor Webb (Sydney Markets) will defend their titles in Melbourne in April in 2009. Entries for the National Forklift Championships are now open. The national competition is once again supported by Schaefer Systems International and Hyster forklifts.

The national competition will provide an opportunity for the forklift operators to drive a forklift to a national standard, compete with others around Australia, win prize money, receive a silver trophy and achieve national recognition as a champion.

The competition is open for both males and females who have a current forklift licence and can drive either a reach truck or counterbalanced forklift truck in racking.

The competition is based on knowledge and skill and not on speed. Safety is important. Competitors start with a score of zero and receive points for any errors made. The winner (male and female) is the individual with the lowest number of points.

The National Forklift Championships will be held in the month of October across Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The next round of heats for Reach Truck operation is planned for February 2009.

All participants will receive a certificate of participation for the event. The winner/s of the final will receive a cash prize in addition to a trophy or plaque.
