SCLAA committee member Peter Thompson receives the 2007 QTA Safety Award

The Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA) congratulated Peter Thompson from Kagan Logistics on receiving The 2007 Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) Industry Safety Award presented by Brian Smith - Area Director, Northern Region Cummins South Pacific.

Peter Thompson has been involved in the Supply Chain & Logistics industry for 35 years, in road, rail and warehousing.

For the past 8 years he has been an active member of the transport and storage sector standing committee for the workplace health and safety board. During this time he has chaired several sub committees responsible for projects including a dissemination plan for advising industry, public and government on important safety related publications. – One such project resulted in the distribution of ten thousand copies of the ‘Road Transport Guide in Queensland’. Peter is currently working on finalising a safety guide titled ‘Working around Trucks’.

In his past employment position with Cement Australia, Peter was responsible for the safe transfer of dangerous and regulated waste product from Melbourne to Gladstone.

Peter Thompson is the past president of the QTA, a current Director of the Sea Freight Council of Qld., a committee member of the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia and is on the committee for the Queensland Supply Chain & Logistics Conference.

Peter continues to work closely with industry and government to promote a strong workplace health and safety culture in road transport.
