Supplier News

STEWART & Heaton Clothing Company (S&H) is a specialist supplier of uniforms, work-wear, protective apparel and apparel services to industry and government.

The company is 100% Australian owned drawing together more than 50 years experience in the clothing industry. S&H is headquartered in Perth with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

In the years since the company was formed, S&H has targeted key niches in the apparel / clothing market and developed a considerable level of expertise in these areas.

Two core business units have emerged in the targeting of specific areas of this market. These are the manufacture and supply of Specialist Protective Apparel and the provision of Total Apparel Management (TAM) services.

Specialist Protective Apparel

S&H is an industry leader in the manufacture and supply of fire fighting clothing and flame retardant clothing in general. The broad customer base includes both public and private entities as well as Federal, State and Local Government bodies.

S&H was the first company in Australia to attain Certified Product Licenses for the Australian Standards for Fire Fighting Garments, AS 4824 (Wildland) and AS 4967 (Structural) respectively.

This ensures independent third party verification of compliance to Standards for all raw materials, manufacturing and supply processes. S&H is Quality Endorsed compliant to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000.

Total Apparel Management (TAM)

For many organisations, the purchasing, storage, distribution, ongoing management and development of uniforms are an ongoing "headache". Significant time and resources are devoted by organisations to the issue of uniforms, an activity increasingly seen as not their core business function.

Where this has been identified, an organisation may seek the services of a TAM service provider. The successful provision of a TAM service requires a unique set of skills which S&H has refined and developed over the years. The specific competencies required are tailored to suit each organisation as no two TAM services are the same.

The key benefits S&H can provide as part of a professional TAM service package include a substantial increase in service levels, removal of inventory holdings and the freeing up of warehouse space, on-going product development, cost reductions through management of entitlements and product usage and the rationalisation of human resources.

Freed from the "headaches" associated with administrating uniforms in-house, our customers are able to focus on their core business activity.

New Products and Services

S&H Protex is an ex-stock range of unique products consisting of flame retardant and fire fighting garments and accessories for industrial, security, fire and emergency service applications.

The Protex range specifically targets areas in the workplace where clothing can become ignited due to numerous hazards including exposure to naked flame, sparks, molten metals and electrical arc.

The Protex flame retardant garments do not allow continuation of burn. When exposed to the initial fire / heat contact, the garments will either not support combustion or self-extinguish upon removal from this flame / heat source. There is no prolonged burning and the potential for burn injury is minimal.
