The basic unit features a two-axis CNC, two-axis DRO, a 10.4” colour active-matrix screen, 256 megabytes of memory, and an industrial-grade Pentium processor. Also included are 2 USB connectors, P/S2 keyboard connector, TEAC floppy drive, in-built LED status light and a jogstick.
The SLX unit runs a Windows operating system and uses English language software that avoids codes. Selections can be made between inches and mm, and the unit prompts for data inputs.
The SLX can be expanded with routines such as constant surface speed and spreadsheet editing. Networking is part of the advanced program storage and can assist in organisation, control and back up of program files straight from the CNC. An RJ45 port, Ethernet card, and 256 megabyte USB thumb drive flash memory expansion can also be added.
Also available for the Prototrak SLX is a TRAKing option that expands the functionality of the CNC into electronic handwheels to control program feed rates.
