Mark Kelso, Production Manager at the centre explained that the decision to purchase the Sony Digital Signage Solution was made by their audio visual consultant and the production and management team.
The brief was to upgrade all of the centre’s systems in order to compete on an international level.
The solution needed to enhance the fixed directional signage in the building, as well as offer a technologically advanced medium for displaying client's logos, conference programmes and marketing opportunities.

Information can be scheduled according to the day or week's running order and adjusted accordingly.
There was a particular emphasis on finding a system that could deliver almost every type of information format conceivable.
The centre required a system that could work in with their current and future needs. Sony's Digital Signage allows flexibility in scheduling as well as immediate messaging. The system allows various display mediums such a graphics, text and web.
Another advantage for the Cairns Convention Centre is the ability to use the screens as a powerful directional tool. With the venue's capacity to cater for up to 5000 delegates at a time, the system can be used to guide the flow of people through the building. The improved functionality has meant a huge jump in automation and efficiency with centrally driven signage.
Great planning went into the positioning of the monitors within the building, according to the Cairns Convention Centre. They were seen as a great tool to display conference programmes and what sessions were in each room.
The centre now has the ability to display client and major sponsor logos, which has been a major marketing enhancement.
