Largest tubular skylight reduces power demand

Supplier News

THE largest and most effective version of Solatube's tubular skylight, that dramatically increases energy savings for commercial, industrial and residential buildings, has been released.

Each new 21-inch (525mm) SolaMaster skylight can produce light output equivalent to two standard fluorescent light fixtures, flooding wide spaces with natural light from simple mountings in suspended ceilings, hard ceilings or open ceilings.

As part of the SolaMaster range designed specifically to integrate with T-Bar ceiling systems as well as hard ceilings, the latest Solatube uses the same patented high-efficiency light harvesting technology derived from the original Solatubes.

The new 21-inch model multiplies the benefits of this through an expanded but unobtrusive mounting that delivers 12,000 lumens of relative light.

Suitable for new or retrofit applications, the compact Solatube design outperforms conventional skylights many times its size, says Solatube general manager John Clark.

The performance of SolaMaster is increased with high-performance Spectralite solid aluminium tubing, which has been demonstrated in laboratory tests to achieve 97 per cent specular reflectance.

A full selection of durable Solatube flashings is available for fast installation (typically less than an hour) on a wide range of flat and pitched roof types.

A range of complementary diffusers is offered to transfer light into spaces without glare.

Diffusers include:

* Optiview diffusers for optimum light diffusion without glare.

* Prismatic diffuser, an economical option suitable for matching the look and style of traditional drop ceiling electric light troffers.

* Open ceiling diffusers, created for applications where Solatubes hang freely.
