SYDNEY-based packaging machinery manufacturer Solari Engineering has achieved further export success with its vertical case packing systems.

Solari commissioned a second vertical case packing system at Natural Waters Of Viti in Fiji, exporter the 'Fiji Water' range of products to the US market.

The system included a high speed RSC case erector, 'pick-and-place' vertical case packer and top only case gluer, capable of handling shrink-wrapped bundles of 500mL, 1L and 1.5L PET bottles.

Solari commissioned the first case packing systems at Natural Waters in late 2000 and together the two systems handle Natural Waters' entire capacity.

More recently, Solari exported a vertical case packing system to Vinamilk in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to pack two dozen 400g cans of powered infant formula into RSC cases.

To suit the pack pattern, the case packer was required to top load two layers of 12 cans into an RSC case at a nominal line speed of 200 cans a minute.

This was achieved by loading two cases simultaneously and placing a layer of cans into both cases. A second layer of cans was then placed on top of the first layer inside each of the cases before the two cases were discharged from the packer to have their top flaps closed and sealed.

A key feature of the Solari VA-779 vertical case packer is its touch panel operated control system that makes programming format settings and drive parameters simple and quick.
