Roofs treated with reflective paint – or more specifically heat reflective roof paint from Solar Cool contribute to lower inside temperatures on hot sunny days, thereby lessening the need for internal air cooling systems, reducing the use of electricity and so help reduce global warming.
Insultec Heat Reflective Paint is a unique composite, developed in Australia for the harshest conditions, and when applied, forms a co-polymer heat re-radiating membrane that not only helps reduce inside temperatures by up to 47%, but also has the ability to seal gaps up to 1.6mm, is waterproof and is a safe, effective and approved way to encapsulate asbestos roofing. Results of use of Insultec Heat Reflective Pains on roofs include:
- Inside another steel roof structure the temperature in an area where the reflective paint had not been applied was measured at 51oC and the area treated with the heat reflective paint reached 33oC
- The area treated with the heat reflective paint had a rise in temperature of only 1o C, whereas the area that had not been treated with the heat reflective roof paint saw an increase in temperature of 19oC
