SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" solid state drive from Soanar

SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5", a solid state drive with up to 64-gigabyte (GB) flash memory, is a drop-in replacement for the hard disk drive. This popular form factor and Serial ATA (SATA) interfaces is ideal for thin and light notebooks, mobile PCs and wherever secure data storage is required. 

Soanar is now stocking the SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5” in 8GB and 32GB capacities with 64GB, which would become available in late September 2008.

Highly durable

SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" is based on technology that has been field-proven for over a decade in harsh environment. SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" uses NAND flash enhanced by its patented flash management technology.

SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" delivers a good two million hour mean time to failure (MTTF) rate. This good MTTF rate results in reduced tangible costs such as IT labour costs, while also decreasing intangible costs associated with inaccessible data that can negatively affect business reputations.

Enhanced performance

With no moving parts, SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" does not need to spin up into action or to seek files in the way that conventional hard disk drives do, while also eliminating the limitations of random seek performance. These characteristics, combined with SanDisk advanced flash management technology, enable SanDisk SSD to achieve performance that is approximately twice as fast as the hard disk drive. SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" achieves a sustained read rate of 67-megabyte (MB)/sec and a random read rate of over 7000 inputs/outputs per second (IOPS) for a 512-byte transfer.

These performance figures boost system performance and enhance the user experience. For instance, SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" can boot Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise on a laptop in as little as 30 seconds.

SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" achieves an average file access rate of 0.11 milliseconds. On Windows Experience Index for Microsoft Vista, SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" scores 5.6 out of a total 5.9.

Power efficient

Another advantage of SanDisk SSD SATA 5000 2.5" is its low power consumption rate, less than 50%, compared to the hard disk drive: 1.0W during active operation versus 2.4W. This is particularly important to extend the battery life for the benefit of road warriors.
