Lantronix, represented by Soanar in Australia, New Zealand and India, have introduced the ManageLinx. The ManageLinx provides easy, secure, remote Internet access to any IP-based resource. The ManageLinx can provide access to resources that are behind firewalls or traditional VPNs.
The ManageLinx uses an appliance called a device services controller (DSC), as well as three logical components. The three logical components are the host controller, the device controller and the network and device services manager (DSM). ManageLinx joins equipment across the Internet to create a Virtual Device Network (VDN). More flexible and easier to deploy than a traditional VPN, the ManageLinx Virtual Device Network restricts access only to specific IP addresses of authorised equipment and does not allow visibility to any other part of the network.
The ManageLinx does not require any changes to network hardware or configurations. This makes it suitable for service organisations which need to remote access equipment on customers’ networks for remote product support.
Following are the features of ManageLinx:
- Monitor product performance
- Receive notification of operational or status changes, service outages or anomalous user activity
- Diagnose failures
- Trigger corrective workflows
- Perform proactive maintenance
- Carry out remote repairs
OEMs without an existing remote product service model can create a new, recurring revenue stream. Those with existing service programmes can broaden their reach, accelerate service revenues, improve efficiency and offer a competitive advantage. End-users can benefit from a simple and highly secure remote access solution that provides better product service while maintaining the integrity of their network firewall and IT policies.
