BJB LED-Lighting
LED light fitting manufacturers are increasingly presenting the lighting industry with new challenges. Key considerations here are the selection of suitable light sources and their position and fixing within the light fitting.
Other barriers to the use of LEDs are the questions of contacting and heat management. The problem of replacement in the case of failure is still largely unresolved, as is the simple use of suitable optics for light direction and bundling.
The majority of high-intensity LEDs offered come with an emitter and mounted on a STARboard. This does not have to be soldered onto a board, as is otherwise required, but is fixed with screws.
However, contact is by means of conductors, which are soldered on, so that, in case of repair, the LED can only be replaced by a specialist.
Many light fitting manufacturers are demanding a connector element which will eliminate these difficulties. BJB has developed a system for LED Starboards which greatly simplifies the use of LEDs in light fittings.
With the BJB attachment and connector element, LED STARboards from many manufacturers can be connected and fitted with lenses without the need for soldering or gluing. The current lens adaptor has been developed using Carclo optics.
This BJB connection system offers the following advantages:
- Solder-free contacting of the LED – no thermal stress which will reduce the operating life of the LED
- Simple adaptation of lenses – previously glued, now clipped
- Fixing the LED
- Compatible with LEDs which can be placed on STARboards, currently available for selected LEDs from, OSRAM, Philips Lumileds, Seoul Semiconductors, Edison
