Situp Products have expanded their range of polished concrete dust extraction shrouds to fit seven inch polishers as well as five inch angle grinders. The shrouds which have traditionally been used with five inch angle grinders control dust when dry concrete grinding and concrete polishing the edges of floors and into the corners. Seven inch polishers are ideal for polished concrete work because of their extra power and variable speed, however they have a different sized mounting boss. New inserts to suit these polishers are now included as standard with every five inch dust extraction shroud purchased.
Polished concrete is becoming increasingly popular and the old wet grinding techniques are being phased out in favour of dry polishing because clean up is faster and with the dust controlled by the dust extraction shroud it does not mark walls or nearby fittings like wet slurry does. Many polished concrete contractors have tried to work without a shroud for the edges, but they have found that the airborne dust is even worse to clean up than the wet slurry.
Situp Products’ dust extraction shrouds remove all the dust particles as they are generated while concrete polishing when a suitable vacuum dust collector is fitted to them. All the air is pulled under the seal where the dust originates both picking it up and directing it to the outlet where it is sent to the dust collector. Dust is automatically collected in this way to avoid manual cleanup between each polished concrete stage. Using a hook and loop backer pad system enables the operator to quickly change grinding pad grits for the many stages of concrete polishing.
Most machines for polished concrete floors do not touch the edges of walls so it is necessary to use a hand grinder to finish the edges. Situp Products have a range of dust extraction shrouds that polish against walls with no gap that can now be used with seven inch polishers as well as five inch angle grinders.
