Packaging, safety consumables available from Signet
For almost 40 years, the Winson Group has been the force behind Signet and insignia, two Australian companies that are repeatedly recognised as innovators in their industrial markets.
From a background in ink manufacturing, and early interests in packaging, labelling and coding solutions for the supply chain, the Winson Group has evolved into a national company that lists Australia’s most famous household names among its clients.
Today, the Winson Group is still owned by the family that founded the business, and the head office is still based in Brisbane.
The same spirit of innovation, coupled with strong company values continues to distinguish insignia and Signet in their respective fields.
Even as this profile goes to print, Winson Group’s recent visionary projects, including a $5 million warehouse site redevelopment and a National Call Centre, are taking shape.
Indeed, it is the ongoing ability to convert vision to fruition that has driven the Winson Group’s growth to date, and will allow the company to expand into offshore markets in the future.
The year 2000 marked an important turning point for the Winson Group. The key packaging and labelling markets that characterised the business had become increasingly different in nature.
To fully pursue the potential of both, Signet and insignia were formed as distinct entities, each to focus on their specific market.
Since then, Signet has grown into Australia’s ideal supplier of packaging and safety consumables, with a local plastic and ink manufacturing programme that feeds a nation-wide warehousing and distribution network.
Signet’s progressive product and service offering has attracted some of Australia’s successful companies. Currently they hold national stretch-film contracts for Coles Myer, Woolworths and Fosters.
However, Signet’s clients are not limited to the large players. Across Australia, thousands of businesses rely on Your Buyer’s Guide – the 250 page catalogue for which Signet is well-known.
Your Buyer’s Guide also serves as a vehicle for Signet’s corporate citizenship programme, which raises the profile of Australian athletes through sponsorships and publicity.
Commonwealth Champion triathlete, Emma Snowsill and Dick Johnson’s Westpoint Racing team are among the programme’s most recent recipients.
On an environmental level, Signet is committed to helping reduce packaging consumption in Australia and is a signatory to the packaging covenant.
insignia, the other side of the Winson Group, has grown from self-effacing beginnings in label slitting and early thermal labelling technology to become an award-winning manufacturer of high quality prime labels.
A gold medal for label design and quality at the recent Latma Awards is among the company’s most recent accolades, reinforcing insignia’s reputation as a force in the labelling field.
However, it is insignia’s ideal partnership approach to their clients’ labelling needs that has captured the business of some of Australia’s most well known brands, including Nestle (in Australia and New Zealand).
Looking forward, the growth and evolution of Winson Group companies will continue to be built upon two key principles:
- Strict adherence to core values – simple hard work, honour, changing for strength and taking ownership for our actions; and
- A significant investment of time and energy in the development and documentation of the long term vision and strategic plan
