Siemens has integrated Open Text’s Livelink platform with SAP R/3 to form a new office process automation solution for the Asia Pacific codenamed ‘The Nexus Project’.
The solution utilises the workflow toolsets of Livelink to automate and tie processes into the SAP backend system.
This translates to office applications such as travel expense claims and recruitment being developed on the Livelink platform and integrated with SAP R/3 for the supporting business transactions, according to Siemens Asia Pacific and Australia cio Jan Dressel.
“It was intuitive from the very beginning to use Livelink and R/3 together, with forms and workflows on Livelink and data in R/3,” Dressel said.
“It is my opinion the right approach for accruing and sustaining the benefits for employees as well as the organisation”.
Dressel said that Siemens intends to standardise its business processes across the Asia Pacific region but that any company with similar requirements ‘could benefit from integrating the collaborative work processes of Livelink to their back-office systems’.
