Siemens introduce Wallace & Tiernan Single Function Controllers

Siemens  have expanded their range of water solutions by introducing the Wallace & Tiernan Single Function Controller (SFC), a single measurement unit that complements its current analyser and controller offering.

The Wallace & Tiernan SFC is useful in the measurement and control of disinfectants, allowing devices such as dosing pumps, electric stroke positioners and continuous actuators to maintain accurate and measured concentrations in one single unit.

The Wallace & Tiernan SFC is an addition to the currently used Multi-Function Controller (MFC), which can also maintain the same level of measurement performance as the single unit, but with the added ability of measuring more than one unit. Both units have modular designs and simple-to-operate functions.

Used with the Wallace & Tiernan SFC PC unit, the Single Function Controller offers a choice of four control options. The flow proportional control option enables the adjustment of the feed rate, based on the current process flow, whereas the feed forward control adjusts the feed rate in proportion to an external measurement input or optional measurement module.

Both closed-loop and compound loop controls maintain a desired set point based on a measured value.

Due to its varied options, the Wallace & Tiernan SFC can cater to all conceivable water treatment applications, including single feedback closed-loop control.

The modular design of the Single Function Controller consists of:

  • An electronic module
  • A flow cell module
  • A sensor measuring module
The design enables more than one parameter to be measured by simply combining more electronic modules together using a CAN sensor or an actuator bus. Thus, the interoperability and flexibility of the Single Function Controller unit is compatible with the Multi-Function Controller. The Wallace & Tiernan SFC also offers screen trending and a SD card for configuration and data storage.
