Siemens have expanded their Scalance X-300 series of managed industrial Ethernet switches with a product line for use in energy automation. Scalance X-300EEC (Enhanced Environmental Conditions) Ethernet switches with IP30 degree protection are suitable for harsh industrial environments as well communication between switching and protection devices in low-voltage and high-voltage switchgears. These switches are EMC-approved in accordance with the IEC standard 61850-3, as necessary for this area of application.
Scalance X-300EEC Ethernet switches consist of compact devices and a modular 19-inch rack unit. There are versions with wide-range power supplies to meet high availability demands. Special coatings are available for heavy ambient air pollution.
Depending on the version, Scalance X-300EEC Ethernet switches feature 10/100/1000 Mbit/s RJ45 ports and 100/1000 Mbit/s FOC ports with different numbers of interfaces. All versions support time synchronisation with high-precision microsecond accuracy in accordance with the IEEE 1588 V2 standard.
