SIEMENS has released a CPU for the Simatic S7-300 controllers that makes it possible to automate small-scale motion control applications economically. The Simatic CPU 315T combines the performance of a standard Simatic CPU with motion control functions that are certified in accordance with PLCopen.
Fast, deterministic controller clock pulses provide isochronous control of up to eight axes. The S7-Technology Step-7 configuration tool has been improved. Version 2.0 includes functions for use in industrial applications.
The Simatic 315T Technology CPU with the control performance of a standard Simatic CPU 315-2 DP complements the already available 317T Technology CPU, which is particularly suitable for machines requiring high-performance control of many objects. Both CPUs provide local digital I/O, two Profibus interfaces and motion control functions that are identical in performance. The difference is in the number of objects that can be controlled. The CPU 317T manages up to 64 objects while the CPU 315T coordinates up to 32 objects. These may be any combination of up to eight axes, sixteen cams, sixteen toggles, eight probes and/or eight external sensors.
Numerous functions ready to be used in industrial applications have been integrated into the configuring tool. Storing/superimposed commands and higher-level synchronising commands improve the dynamic response. Read/write access to the drive parameters makes it possible to analyse and change these in the PLC user program. Data from the TM15/TM17 terminal modules of the Sinamics S120 drives can also be accessed. Additional touch probes can be measured and fast cam signals can be issued with a resolution as high as 1μs.
