The new IMF series of inductive sensors, from Sick , offer better switching reliability, with a high resistance to cleaning in the harsh environments found in the food and beverage industries.
Watertight and suitable for both hot and cold installations, the IMF series of inductive sensors is robust and provides a powerful solution for reliable sensing.
During development of the IMF series of inductive sensors, particular emphasis was placed on providing exceptional corrosion resistance, housing sealing and temperature resistance in order to meet all the demands of the extreme food and beverage industry chemical cleaning and disinfection processes.
High ambient temperatures, air humidity, and high water pressures during the cleaning of equipment are common causes of sensor failure.
The IMF housings are made of a rugged mix of V4A 316L (1.4404) stainless steel and the FDA certified plastic PPS.
They are built to withstand harsh stress in everyday use in the food and beverage environment.
They have good resistance to both cold and hot processes too; the IMF series of inductive sensors has an operational temperature range from -40°C to +85°C and they are rated at 100°C for 15 minutes. The watertight IMF series of inductive sensors has an enclosure rating of IP68 and IP69K.
The new IMF series of inductive sensors consists of two housing sizes, the 12mm IMF12 and the 18mm IMF18. Both versions are available with single or double switching distances and the sensors have features such as high switching frequencies of 2 KHz, optional NPN or PNP switching and antivalent (normally open and normally closed) output function.
The resistance of the IMF12 and IMF18 to acidic and alkaline detergents and disinfectants has been certified by ECOLAB and JohnsonDiversey in independent tests.
