Image-Pro Plus, available from SciTech , is an image analysis software package for fluorescence imaging, quality assurance, materials imaging, and various other scientific, medical, and industrial applications. A member of the Image-Pro software family, Image-Pro Plus includes extensive enhancement and measurement tools and allows users to write application-specific macros and plug-ins.
Image-Pro Plus provides a full range of utilities for capturing, communicating, processing, measuring, analysing, archiving, reporting, and printing. Image-Pro Plus' user-friendly environment enables users to spend less time learning to use their software and more time analysing and learning from the images. Lengthy operations can be compressed into a single keystroke or mouse click with Image-Pro Plus' Auto-Pro programming language.
The following are the uses of Image-Pro Plus:
Image acquisition: The Image-Pro Plus allows the users to utilise the full precision of the capture equipment with easy-to-use acquisition tools. The Image-Pro Plus supports digital cameras, image capture cards and other devices.
Process and manage multiple images: The users can spend less time managing multiple images with the Image-Pro Plus. Tile together a series of images to see a full representation of the research sample. Align individual or sequence images to gain a clear understanding of the image. Use Extended Depth of Field to create a focused image from a series of unfocused images. Users can manage multiple image sets with the Set Manager feature.
Enhance and eliminate artefacts: Many imaging applications require users to remove noise or artifacts from images. Use the built-in SharpStack 2D deconvolution, Nearest Neighbor, No-neighbor, and Inverse Filter algorithms to retrieve better data from the images. Use the Real-time 2D deconvolution tools to display live deconvolved imagery. The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) feature in the Image-Pro Plus allows the users to perform forward and inverse FFTs to eliminate noise from the images. Users can also use the background correction tool to extract background objects from the images. Image-Pro Plus can apply a variety of enhancement filters, edge filters, morphological filters, and large spectral filters to extract features of interest. Voxel-based 3D filters can be used with 3D volumetric, timelapse, and other 3D image sets.
Analyse and visualise image data: Image-Pro Plus includes a full range of qualitative analysis tools that help users to better visualise their image data. The built-in OpenGL 3D viewer allows interactive 3D volume rendering. Display image intensity values in a 3D plot with the Surface Plot tool. Users can visualise image data with scattergrams, histograms and line profiles. Users can define and manage multiple areas of interest (AOI) in a single image.
Classify objects: With the Image-Pro Plus, users can manually or automatically characterise objects within the images. Count and size objects automatically, with the ability to identify over 100,000 objects per frame (memory dependent). Work with over 50 measurement tools, including areas, perimeters, lengths, roundness, major and minor axes, angles, centroids, holes and population density.
Apply quantitative measurements: Extract valuable data from the images using the measurement functions found in Image-Pro Plus. Metrology tools allow the users to measure best-fit line, arc and circle and the users can also detect edges and derive distance measurements using the Caliper tool. Users can measure co-localisation of probes in separate grayscale images or within a colour image.
Calibration of images: The Image-Pro Plus includes intensity and spatial calibration tools that allow the users to report measurement data in terms that are meaningful to the research. Image-Pro Plus can create and display spatial calibration markers and system calibrations. Users can use pre-defined spatial calibration units and calculate derived calibrations automatically.
Track moving objects: With Image-Pro Plus, users can manually or automatically follow an object in an image sequence as it moves through time and space using the built-in Object Tracking tools. Correlation tracking allows the users to track objects when image segmentation is not possible. Users can also track and graph the changing of intensity parameters over time within an area of interest.
Customisation of Workflow: The Image-Pro Plus offers convenient customisation tools and a built-in programming language to streamline the imaging research. Image-Pro Plus can save frequently performed operations using the Macro Recording tools. Users can edit recorded macros with the command recognition tools in the Intelligent Macro Editor. The Image-Pro Plus’ built-in IP Basic programming engine offers a debugger, full editor and dialog builder. Use with COM objects such as Microsoft Word or Excel, and integrate and customise macros with Microsoft Visual Basic or Visual C++.
Reporting and publishing of results: The user can share findings with others using Image-Pro Plus’ reporting tools and can also export image data through DDE to Origin and Microsoft Excel, and create custom reports and automatically grab screen captures of individual images or an entire screen.
Version 6.3 of Image-Pro Plus image capture, processing and analysis software includes the following new features:
