Schaefer Systems International will once again be sponsoring the Young Professional of the Year Award for the third consecutive year at the 2011 Mercury Awards.
SSI Schaefer is a leading materials handling systems supplier.
Alan Clark, Managing Director of SSI Schaefer is happy to see young people such as this year’s winner Joe Taylor, National Transportation Manager for Corporate Express walk away with the 2010 Young Professional of the Year Award.
He says this is a clear indication that the materials handling and supply chain industry is going to be in good hands in the future.
Mr Clark adds that Joe Taylor received the honours for his innovative and dynamic thinking with the development of a national distribution model that allowed the centralisation of slow moving inventory.
Joe Taylor successfully implemented a project that has led to a $2.8 million saving in operating costs in addition to significant improvement in carbon emissions with fewer vehicles on the road and a reduction in the number of kilometres driven.
The Young Professional of the Year Award recognises young people that have excelled in the provision of services, development of strategy and supply chain management.
Mr Clark concludes by saying that SSI Schaefer is proud to be associated with an award that recognises the future leaders of the industry.
