presents Cerlic CTXP/ CTXA by-pass sensors from KPM for retention measurement.
CTXP is a total consistency sensor for headbox and whitewater samples while the CTXA outputs total consistency and Ash% for retention measurement with machines using fillers.
The two sensors measure fibres and particles greater than 0.88 microns such as stock from 0.01% (100ppm) to 1.5% (depending on type of stock). The measuring principle is based on the ability of fibres to depolarise light to a much greater degree than denser solid particles.
Retention measurement system
The CTXP/A by-pass sensors are connected to headbox and whitewater with a sample valve and FEP sample line. The sensors measure Total and Ash% (CTXA) of the sample. Cs and Ash signals are connected to DCS, where retention is calculated.
Robust design in 316 stainless steel
The sensors are made from 316 stainless steel with quartz glass lenses to withstand aggressive media. The sensor pressure class is PN25. The BB2 central unit and sensors have protection class of IP65 (Nema 4X) and do not need protective housing to withstand difficult conditions at the paper machine wet end.
CTX by-pass sensors
The 3mm gap between the lenses in the CTXP/A by-pass sensors help produce a self-cleaning effect due to the increased velocity. Automatic flushing with 3-way valves can be additionally supplied to keep the sensors clean without maintenance.
Remote BB2 control box
The sensors are pre-calibrated for quick and easy start-up, requiring a one-point adjustment after installation against a laboratory test.
The BB2 control box has four selectable calibration curves for applications with varying furnishes. Two CTXP sensors may be connected to a single BB2 control box, which provides two 4-20mA outputs. The BB2 box has an optional fieldbus interface board.
