Scale Components supplies mobile cubing system for Coles regional distribution centre
A mobile cubing system was recently commissioned for the South Australian Regional Distribution Centre of Coles. Supplied by Scale Components in Brisbane, the CubiScan 100 Cubing System automatically attains the cubic dimension and weight of all items entering the warehouse for storage.
As the vendor supplied dimensional information is sometimes inaccurate, incorrectly identified or missing, the CubiScan Mobile Cubing System is used to verify the accuracy of all supplied data. Once scanned by the CubiScan 100, the accurate and verified SKU dimensional and weight data is then available for online transfer or later batching-in to the DC's Warehouse Management System.
The CubiScan Cubing System eliminates the need for data to be both collected and processed manually into the Warehouse Management System. To eliminate the need for excessive stock movements to capture the Cubing data of each item, the CubiScan 100 is available as custom trolley mount to allow for mobile operation around the warehouse.
The CubiScan 100 Cubing System is trolley mounted with its own PC, Inverter, deep cycle rechargeable batteries and a battery charging system. An integrated cordless hand held bar code scanner is used by the operator to collect product identification of each item passing over the cubing system.
