A recipe batching system was recently installed onto a mobile concrete batch plant west of Toowoomba in South East Queensland. Supplied by Scale Components in Brisbane, the Systec IT6000 recipe batching system directs the filling of materials into a weigh hopper by a front end loader using a remote display.
Not only does the recipe batching system alleviate the need for the loader driver to read from manual batch cards, but it also improves the accuracy of manually added materials. Batch consistency is also improved as each material is assigned its own tolerance, and out of tolerance weights need to be approved/confirmed before a batch with an out of tolerance material can proceed or be aborted.
The recipe batching system transmits the names and target weights of each required material in turn to a large digit remote display for the loader driver to follow. The name of the required material is displayed alternately with the required target weight (AGG20 & 1800kg) to inform the operator that 800kg of 20mm aggregate is required.
Once the recipe batching system detects material being loaded, only the net weight of the hopper is displayed, with the display counting down to a 0kg reading to reach the target weight. If the loader driver needs to collect another bucket of material, the product name starts alternating with the residual required weight again (AGG20 & 210kg).
Recipes can be either hand entered into the Systec IT6000 recipe batching system and/or downloaded through Ethernet or even from a USB stick. The operator adjusts the size of the batch by entering the total batch weight required. A full material report is generated for each batch, and lists:
- the recipe used
- the date and time
- material name; and
- both the target and actual weighs achieved.
Scale Components is the exclusive Australian distributor of the Systec range of industrial weighing electronics and has the capability to custom engineer recipe batching systems to suit client's needs.
Available in full stainless steel housings rated to IP65 with a full graphics screen, Systec’s IT6000E recipe batching system is designed for portability and is fully manufactured in Germany to strict quality standards.
