It takes a cool head to come up with an inspired solution in the heat.
This is precisely what happened when Platinum Roofing, one of Queensland’s old roofing companies, was involved in the building of the government-funded Wondai Hospital, 240 kilometres north-west of Brisbane.
With summer temperatures hovering around 40°C, Platinum Roofing wanted a product that offered an alternative to traditional chipboard panels under the roofline and eaves. But that product had to provide screening as well as ventilation; no mean feat given that the area produces wild variation in climatic conditions including severe summer storms.
Platinum Roofing decided to use Sankey Louvamesh, a high-quality galvanised steel mesh designed for use as a sunscreen, privacy screen, wind break and in glare reduction.
According to Platinum Roofing, Sankey Louvamesh is an ideal alternative because of its strength, appealing aesthetics and ease of installation, Sankey Louvamesh can be bent giving greater flexibility in design and it also provides maximum shading without impeding airflow.
Sankey Australia is working with Platinum Roofing and the Queensland Government on future projects that will use Sankey’s expanded metal products and its highly-efficient Smartflo Guttering range.
