The new insert generation from Sandvik Coromant reaches the next stage with the introduction of two new K milling grades. GC1020 and GC3220 are the latest innovations for superior results in this competitive area.
Hot on the heels of recent advances in steel milling, the cast iron area will be boosted by improved toughness and wear resistance with two highly versatile grades designed to handle the varied operations characterised by the cast iron milling area.
In GC1020, Sandvik Coromant introduces an excellent all rounder as the new first choice for nodular cast iron and all wet cast iron machining. A strong PVD coating guarantees higher cutting speeds and reduced wear rates and, is a good performer in unstable conditions, it is the new first choice for the CoroMill 390 milling cutter.
With the thickest protective coating for a milling insert, GC3220 offers big improvements in durability and wear resistance, optimised for the dry machining of grey cast iron. Designed to excel in shoulder and face milling with the CoroMill range – especially larger diameter cutters – GC3220 offers a smooth and reliable machining experience.
These two grades will enhance existing geometries and are available in a wide selection of inserts for the CoroMill, to push the boundaries of cast iron milling productivity.
