Sialon grade CC6060 ceramics have been introduced by Sandvik Coromant to facilitate and increase opportunities for the turning and milling of heat resistant super alloys. The new ceramics include insets for semi-finish to finish machining.
CC6065 and CC6060 ceramic grades are idea for use with heat resistant super alloys and ensure optimum productivity for medium to roughing operations.
Sialon grade CC6060 ceramic has been optimised to cater for larger diameter components and longer lengths of cut. It features an outstanding notch wear resistance and offers confidence to machine at greater depths of cut than other ceramic grades. Sialon grade CC6060 is also capable of coping with higher feed rates and longer continuous cuts.
Sialon is a mixture of silicon nitride and aluminium oxide providing the best chemical stability to reduce notch wear in demanding operations.
Ceramics are able to run at 4-6 times the speed of carbides. This combined with the strength of the round ceramic inserts offers a winning combination to improve productivity.
