The new grade is primarily developed for medium to roughing operations of steels but also works well in hardened steels and nodular cast iron.
Very high cutting speeds, long passes and dry machining are possible thanks to the heat resistance of the thick alumina coating.
In combination with Wiper the feed can also be increased.
To gain the most out of GC4005 it should be used for large components, in machines with good stability and strong clamping of the workpiece, and in operations where high resistance to plastic deformation and crater wear are needed.
This competitive new grade is recommended for the automotive industry and in mechanical engineering.
GC4005 extends the 4000 series of grades and is available in different geometries as negative T-Max P inserts.
