Samtec launches new pitch interfaces

Samtec, represented in ANZ by Soanar, has expanded its Micro Card socket line with the introduction of surface mount 0,635mm (.025") pitch interfaces (MEC6 Series) available in both right-angle and vertical orientations.  These sockets have a double row of Phosphor Bronze contacts to mate with standard double-sided (1,6mm) .062" thick cards.

Seven standard sizes are available with vertical orientation, and 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 I/Os per side non-polarized and with 50, 60, and 70 I/Os per side with a keying feature to assure proper card insertion.  Five right-angle styles are available with 10 through 40 I/Os non-polarized and 50 I/Os per row with the keying feature.

These high density interfaces require minimal board area.  For example, 80 I/Os require less than 300 square millimeters (.5 square inch) for vertical orientation while 80 I/Os with a right-angle orientation requires only 260 square millimeters (.4 square inch) of board area.
