SAMTEC's new high data rate cable assembly system provides flexible high speed board-to-board solutions on 0.5mm HQCD Series) and 0.8mm (EQCD Series), JTAG interfaces (HHSC Series), edge card interfaces (EEDP Series), and custom cable assemblies, to meet most of today’s data rate and signal integrity requirements.

These assemblies are manufactured using Hitachi miniature coax and Twin Ax cable.

Miniature coax uses 38 AWG center conductor and a low dielectric constant (k=2.1) dielectric, and Twin Ax uses 30 AWG center conductor and a low dielectric constant (k=2.1) dielectric.

They are ideal for longer cable lengths up to one metre, for high flexing applications up to 40,000 cycles, and with small bend radii down to 2.5mm or less.

They offer superior EMI performance (FCC Class A) in single-ended and differential pair signal applications, and low skew with single-ended application <20 ps/ft, differential pair <10 ps/ft and differential within a pair <5 ps/ft.

Solder joints are fully encapsulated for added reliability and a variety of standard locking and latching options are available for applications requiring rugged interfaces.

Most standard Samtec connectors may be terminated to these cables as well as Samtec flex circuits to achieve a variety of cost-effective solutions for high speed, high reliability data links or test links, as well as more complex high speed I/O applications.
