Qantas catering wing faced a problem with rolling their food trolleys across floors that had two levels. The weight and bulk of the trolleys required a lift mechanism with significant capacity without recessing a scissor lift in the floor.
Safetech’s LoLift scissor lifts were identified as a highly suitable solution for the job. With less than 40mm of collapsed height, trolleys or hand pallet trucks could be easily rolled onto the platform, raised to the required height and rolled off to the next level.
Qantas purchased several LoLift scissor lifts that were positioned at the point where the two floor levels met. The food trolleys can now be lifted and moved to the higher level or lowered back to the lower level without risk.
Since no pit is required for installation, the scissor lifts can be placed into operation immediately.
Safetech’s scissor lift tables are built for durability and can take loads weighing up to 1000kg. Made of AS 1250 steel, the deck is constructed using stainless steel or checker plate.
The roll-through design allows these scissor lifts to be used for disabled access. Safety features include safety bars or skirts to protect the operator.
