MTU Detroit Diesel Australia combines over 50 years of diesel engine and transmission distribution to the Australian/Pacific market. They are responsible for the distribution network of diesel engines, automatic transmissions, generator sets, stern drives and aftermarket products for Australia/Pacific.
Detroit Diesel’s service division distribute a large volume of automatic transmissions. Prior to leaving the workshop the service technicians must drain the test fluid and install new oil pumps.
This process was carried out at floor level while the transmissions were located on pallets.
Operators were constantly bending down to work on motors at floor level making this process inefficient and time consuming.
Safetech supplied, manufactured and installed seven, 1 tonne lift tables with special drip trays to collect the transmission fluid. Along with a custom designed Gorbel Freestanding 2 tonne crane with dual runways and twin bridges to lift engines and transmissions.
The use of the lift tables and an overhead crane system prevented bending their backs to work at floor level. Not only did this make it much safer but the speed of the process was increased dramatically.
The customer needed a customised solution to simplify their operations and application area.
