Safetech offers its expertise in designing and manufacturing solutions for difficult lifting problems and has completed many projects across a broad spectrum of Australian industry.

One such project was at a meat packing plant which cuts and packs meat for delivery to supermarkets.

Specifically, the operation required a unit to lift pallets of goods from the ground floor to the 1st floor. The plant had no elevator, yet loads of up to 2 tonne needed to be moved between floors.

The ASD2-3500 Scissor Lift was chosen as an efficient, cost effective solution.

The Safetech ASD2-3500 double scissor hydraulic lift table offers 3,500mm of vertical travel and features a 3,250mm x 1,700mm platform.

The platform has a 1,800mm high mesh fences on three of its sides and guard locked boom gates on its loading side.  Also included was a durable galvanised plate fixed to surface and loading edge of platform.

How the system works for the meat packing plant:

  • Two pallets are loaded onto the platform by a forklift at ground level.
  • The platform is raised to first floor via a new opening in upper floor.
  • An enclosed shaft was installed as well as guard locked gates at each level.
  • At upper level the pallets are removed by hand pallet truck.
The advantages of choosing this particular scissor lift for this meat packing business included the fact that it has a high load capacity of 2,000 kg. As such, it can handle the heavy demands of the operation.

In addition, the installation procedure was fairly straight forward.  All controls, guard locked gates and limits were provided.
