Safe Environments Achieves NATA Accreditation for Slip Resistance Testing and Pendulum Calibrations

Safe Environments  has recently achieved NATA accreditation for slip resistance testing and pendulum calibration, demonstrating their competence and high level of quality in slip check facilities.  

The Slip Check facilities comply with the requirements of AS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.  

NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) provides independent assurance of technical competence through a proven network of best practice industry experts for customers who require confidence in the delivery of their products and services.  

NATA offers assessment, accreditation and training services to laboratories and technical facilities throughout Australia and internationally.  

The scope of Safe Environments’ Slip Check NATA accreditation includes slip resistance testing and calibration services to standards of: 

  • AS/NZS 4663 Slip resistance measurement of existing pedestrian surfaces
  • AS/NZS 4586 Slip resistance classification of new pedestrian surface materials
  • BS 7976 Part 3 Pendulum Testers Method of Calibration

The Building Code of Australia requires evidence of suitability for elements within a building to ensure compliance with performance objectives. One method of providing evidence of suitability is determined by test reports from a Registered Testing Authority.  

Safe Environments is a Registered Testing Authority as defined by the Building Code of Australia and their NATA endorsed slip resistance test reports are evidence of suitability.  

The NATA accreditation signifies that Safe Environments provides high quality slip testing and that the slip testing technicians have undergone rigorous training and quality assurance procedures.  

It is important for slip test laboratories to have NATA accreditation since slip resistance test reports not endorsed by NATA cannot be relied upon with certainty.
