ST Microelectronics , the world's largest supplier of components for digital radio receivers hosted this year's WorldDMB Car Manufacturers Workshop in Munich, Germany early this month.
The international forum brought together car makers, broadcasters and equipment manufacturers to discuss the current status of digital radio deployment in Europe, the cost-effective introduction of high-performance digital radio in cars and the synergies of the radio and automotive industries.
“ST plays a key role in driving the adoption by the car industry of digital radios in Europe and across the world,” said Jørn Jensen, President, WorldDMB.
“Having ST as the host and keynote speaker at this year’s Car Manufacturers Workshop gives strong endorsement to DAB, the most broadly deployed set of digital radio standards in the world today.”
ST has capabilities to supply complete system solutions for major terrestrial and satellite digital radio technologies, including DAB family, HD Radio, Digital Radio Mondiale, Sirius/XM as well as European Satellite Digital Radio and the company works with all major equipment manufacturers for both built-in and after-market car radio solutions.
Their extensive product portfolio comprises all components for car radios from the Radio Frequency tuner IC through the baseband processor to application/multimedia processing and playback.
ST’s car radio systems are optimised for minimised power consumption and harsh reception environments, drawing upon more than twenty years of experience and leadership in legacy AM/FM solutions and the satellite radio in the US.
