The Hon. Wayne Swan MP (Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer of Australia) visited the Advanced Manufacturing Facility of SOS Components Pty Ltd to understand the cutting edge rapid prototyping industry, and how the 100% Australian owned and operated business was flourishing during these economically challenging times.

When Wayne (that's how he introduced himself) first arrived at SOS Components, he admittedly knew very little about Rapid Prototyping (RP) and the corresponding RP processes but was eager to know more about the operations at SOS Components.

After Jeff Condren (Director) and Janine Condren (Manager) gave a basic overview of the RP industry, Wayne was presented with the ‘Man in a ball in a ball’ prototype that Jeff had made specifically for him to have better understanding of the concepts of Rapid Prototyping technology.

As Wayne toured the expansive SOS Components facility, he was amazed by the vast array of technology and was also very interested in the cost of the equipment.

Wayne discussed with Jeff and Janine about the various applications and implications that these technologies will have on Australia's manufacturing industry. He was also pleased to know that SOS Components has been providing a cost effective and 100% Australian RP alternative to offshore providers.

Wayne remarked that he was absolutely amazed with all that was shown him and was really looking forward to coming back and spending some more time with them.

SOS Components are very pleased with the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer of Australia, and also impressed by his genuine interest in this industry.
