A new welding appliance platform from Fronius was recently introduced by SMENCO in Australia.

Conceived, designed and developed by Fronius, the new TPS/i MIG/MAG welding appliance platform will benefit users with individually customised welding machines that can be easily upgraded, are easier to operate, multi-functional and able to deliver virtually limitless performance and improved welding properties, in addition to optimising the communication between the operator and the machine.

Fronius’ TPS/i welding appliance platform is based on a modular design concept that allows it to be easily adapted to individual welding needs.

Better communication between man and machine

The TPS/i platform communicates with the user in many different ways including an intuitive plain-text display that gives users information on all machine parameters in the form of descriptive texts; automatically detecting all available components to warn of any incompatibilities; mini-display integrated into the ‘Jobmaster’ torch allowing users to control the power source from the welding workplace; and remote maintenance and system analysis possible via Internet.

Superior welding properties

Key improvements in the TPS/i’s central functions include a much faster processor performance allowing many new control variables to be measured, resulting in more accurate analysis and control of the weld process with several positive effects such as less spattering in the dip-transfer arc process, improved droplet detachment, even more stable arc at higher welding speeds and controlled ignition properties.

Modular design concept

The modular design of the TPS/i allows future extensions easily with new functionalities added on through simple upgrades using a USB device or the Internet, similar to firmware updates.
