SMC Pneumatics has released a 'smooth operation' option for its range of CA tie rod cylinders, CM2 crimped construction cylinders, CQ2 compact cylinders and the CG1 clean line cylinders.
The 'smooth operation' option results in greatly reduced sticking and slipping of piston and seal materials for applications where low speed and smooth travel are critical.
These may include the transfer of delicate or fragile components and the application of more precise force control upon work or test pieces.
Previous options from SMC have provided for speeds as low as 25mm/sec. The latest developments now achieve super smooth control in both directions from as low as 5mm/sec up to 500mm/sec with minimum operating pressures of 0.03MPa or less depending on the cylinder bore size.
SMC is continuing its work in developing product features that benefit both customers and the environment.
Lower friction on this new cylinder option means less energy is used and a higher quality of output is achieved which, over the long term, provides greater returns on pneumatic investments as well as environmental benefits.
