SMC Pneumatics has released what it believes to be the world's smallest and lightest vacuum ejector onto the Australian market.
The extremely compact Series ZQ space-saving vacuum ejector is just 10mm wide and weighs only 440g.
These specifications position it 35% smaller and 40% lighter than the next smallest SMC vacuum ejector available.
Available in three nozzle diameters of 5mm, 7mm and 10mm, the ZQ can be used as either a standalone station or joined with up to eight units in a manifold arrangement.
According to SMC, the unit was developed specifically for manufacturers of handling equipment for the semiconductor industry where size and weight are critical considerations in machine development.
Typical applications for this product include chip bonding and mounting, pick and place movement of miniature components, printing paper feed or any other movements where vacuum control is required for precise placement of small components.
Other features of the unit include a vacuum generator, suction filter, exhaust silencer and a built-in LED switch feedback.
Maximum vacuum pressure attainable with the ZQ is -84kPa with maximum flow rates of 5 Nl/min to 22 Nl/min possible depending on the nozzle diameter selected.
The unit comes fitted with a 30µm filter and analogue output pressure sensor as standard.
