SMC Pneumatics has released the PSE550 low differential pressure sensor. It can detect pressure differences as low as 0.2kPa across any system. It is especially useful where heating and ventilation need to be monitored.

It is suitable for use with air, noncorrosive gas and nonflammable gases and in applications such as monitoring filters to provide early warning of filter clogging to ensure healthy working environments for staff. It can also be used to monitor flow rate inside fan-forced ducts and for detecting liquid levels in tanks.

Output can be displayed using the PSE300 series of pressure sensor controllers. They have a 10mm backlit digital display and can provide a feedback signal to a central controller or to a computer for monitoring and analysis.

The PSE550 has a proof pressure of 65kPa and an operating pressure range of -50kPa to 50kPa. It operates on 12V to 24V dc. A red LED provides visual confirmation of operational status and an electrical output is given at either 1V to 5V dc or 4mA to 20mA, depending on which of two models is selected.

The PSE550 will operate in temperatures ranging from 0°C to 50°C and can be stored in temperatures between -20°C to 70°C without condensation or freezing.
