SKF has acquired Magnetic Electromotoren AG, a manufacturer of electromechanical actuators, motors, telescopic drives and control units as well as complete actuation systems.
With the addition of Magnetic's product range, SKF Actuators, a business area within SKF Linear Motion & Precision Technologies, is reinforcing its position in the market for electromechanical actuators, linear drives and actuation systems.
According to Christer Gyberg, president of SKF Industrial Division, SKF is now the second largest manufacturer of electrical actuators and actuation systems in the world.
SKF Actuators develops and markets systems throughout the world, combining mechanics and electronics to provide integrated solutions for its customers.
Actuation systems are used within a wide range products and applications. Primary areas of operation are in medical technology, rehabilitation, hospital and Nursing home beds, furniture, conveying and manufacturing technology, automation and robot engineering, industrial technology and for workplace ergonomics.
The acquisition reflects the SKF Group's strategy to grow in the area of electronics and develop products and processes with higher added value to improve customer's competitivness.
