A new family of data collectors/analysers enabling technicians with skill levels ranging from maintenance technician to reliability expert has been developed by SKF Reliability Systems . When used with SKF Machine Suite, the collectors/analysers provide a complete portable vibration-analysis package.
The Microlog GX family ties in effectively with SKF's portfolio of Asset Efficiency Optimisation (AEO) strategies, products and services. SKF's Product Support Plan and other factory-related offerings add to the product family's appeal.

The Microlog GX units are rugged analysers that can serve as either route or non-route units. They provide flexibility and scalability by operating on the Windows CE platform.
In addition to acceleration enveloping technology for bearing fault detection, the units also feature High Frequency Detection (HFD). This allows for early detection of high frequency energy emitted from rolling element bearings or other components.
Key features of the Microlog GX data collector/analyser include:
* A 400MHz X-Scale Intel processor for exceptionally fast data collection
* A 1/4 VGA colour, transflective liquid-crystal display that enhances visibility in all environments - dark or bright
* Outstanding data-storage capacity with 64MB SDRAM and 64 MB Flash storage
* A water- and dust-proof (IP 65 rated) enclosure.
These features translate into data collectors/analysers that are more powerful, faster, have more memory and are more rugged than earlier generations.
Available options include a Bump Test module for determining if resonance is responsible for high noise or vibration levels.
Models with on-board digital recorders as enhancements will be available soon.
