Siemens PLM Software announces the release of the latest version of its Femap software.
A product of Siemens’ product lifecycle management software business unit, Femap 11 provides comprehensive functionality in an independent environment for modelling, simulation and review of product performance results.
Significant enhancements in data handling and graphic performance in the latest release of Siemens’ Femap software increases engineering productivity in product development simulation and analysis. Version 11 speeds data access by up to 25 times and reduces memory usage by up to 80%, delivering a smaller more manageable model file. In addition, dynamic rotation of large, complex models is at least five times faster than the previous version.
The much-enhanced Femap 11 will enable engineers to speed up finite element analysis while maintaining product quality and performance.
According to Cong Yuan, a Femap 11 beta tester at NST, an engineering consulting firm engaged in the development, marketing and technical support of CAE application software, one of the new features in Femap 11 enabled them to significantly reduce processing time while keeping the computer resource usage low. Reopening a large analysis result file was over 200 times faster.
Engineering productivity is further supported in Femap 11 through the creation of geometry from a finite element mesh when no underlying geometry is available, simplifying modification and enabling legacy finite element models to be done in minutes.
